Police were called to Blowhole Point Road today at 1.00pm, following reports concerning a person's welfare.

The Lake Illawarra Police District responded and approached the vehicle. Upon the officers' arrival, a car chase was initiated through the streets of Kiama. 

Witnesses allegedly saw the vehicle and four police officers in a pursuit down Terralong Street this afternoon.

The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns. The police continued to monitor the vehicle before it came to a stop at approximately 1.30pm at a car park on Russell Street, Albion Park.

The 31-year-old male driver was taken to Shellharbour hospital for treatment by NSW Ambulance.
