The problem of vandalism in the Kiama local government area has arrived on The Bugle's own doorstep.

Vandals went on a rampage on Thursday night in the Edessa Arcade on Terralong Street and police are now investigating the incident.

They did not do much damage and thankfully none of the shops were damaged.

The hoodlums got their hands on a fire extinguisher which is permanently placed in the arcade and sprayed its contents throughout the area, on ground level, the stairway and the upstairs level.

They also ripped mail from the letterboxes for the Edessa Arcade tenants and dumped them in the stairwell.

While they did not do too much damage, they have caused inconvenience with the area now needing to be cleaned, the fire extinguisher has to be replaced and the strewn mail sorted out.
