Gerringong Lions forward Hamish Stewart suffered another concussion as the Dragons went down to the Warriors 14-10 in Auckland on Friday night.

Stewart was taken from the field after 15 minutes following a sickening head clash with teammate Jack de Belin as they were trying to make a tackle.

That double blow for the Dragons was compounded 15 minutes later when interchange forward Hame Sele was also concussed, leaving the team severely depleted as the match wore on.

St George Illawarra led 10-4 at half-time and looked like they were going to hold on for a rousing victory but as their energy faded, the Warriors took advantage with two tries in the final 20 minutes.

The levelling try came in controversial circumstances after the Dragons appealed for an obstruction penalty from a decoy runner in the lead-up to Adam Pompey touching down but the play was given the green light by referee Todd Smith and the Bunker.

Dragons coach Shane Flanagan was furious.

"It was really tough for us that what was an obstruction last week is not an obstruction this week.

"I started playing footy when I was four years old, and I don't know the rules anymore. I deadset do not know the rules.

"So it is tough, but we are a tough club and this is a really connected unit and we will fight really hard for the next three weeks."

Another Gerringong product, centre Hayden Buchanan, turned in a solid performance in his second appearance in the NRL for the Dragons.

The 19-year-old made 18 runs for 135 metres with 18 tackles as well.

St George Illawarra's faint chances of making the finals are now over and they have to dust themselves off for next Thursday's stoush with South Sydney at Accor Stadium.

Stewart, who was knocked out last month and sat out a match in Canberra, will be ruled out of the rumble with the Rabbitohs due to the concussion protocols along with de Belin and Sele.
