The mural, inspired by Kiama’s landscapes and local character, is expected to be finished later this month.
Everyone is encouraged to stop and watch as the design takes shape.
Mayor Cameron McDonald said the project will help turn the underbridge into a community landmark.
“This mural will transform the Terralong Street underbridge into a landmark that reflects Kiama’s creative energy and natural beauty,” he said.
“Public art like this helps build a strong sense of place, community pride, and cultural identity.”
Dvate, known for his photorealistic murals and meticulous attention to detail, has been painting across Australia since the late 1990s.
Trained in graphic design and visual arts at Monash University, his name has become synonymous with graffiti and street art scenes.
Kiama Council’s Cultural Development team said the mural supports Creative Kiama’s Cultural Plan 2025–2029, which aims to promote public art and creative projects that reflect the town’s unique identity.
