his week's digital edition of The Bugle brings you all the latest news about the stoush between Kiama Council and the NSW Government in the lead-up to the 13 September by-election.

He is calling on the NSW Government and Labor candidate Katelin McInerney to pledge more for the electorate, saying Council does not feel “our community’s needs are being heard”.

The ballot draw has been done and there are 13 candidates officially in the race although one by-election hopeful was rejected.

Candidates had until Thursday to nominate and Family First issued a statement after their nominee, Kyle Napoleoni, had his bid rejected because the party had not been registered in NSW for the minimum 12-month period.

There is also an update on the ongoing fireworks saga with Kiama Councillor Melinda Lawton writing a column on why she voted against a last-ditch proposal for the New Year's Eve event.

You can also read plenty of great community stories including an award-winning Berry business, the Folk by the Sea festival as well as plenty of sport, including a Gerringong local making waves with the Rabbitohs in the NRL.
