One step at a time: Alex close to epic homecomingAlex Glover and his partner Sally Bursell

Alex Glover, the inspiring force behind Strides Against Suicide, is set to finish his extraordinary solo walk around Australia this Thursday at 4:30pm, arriving back where it all began - Kiama Lighthouse.

Since leaving the Kiama Blowhole on 21 January 2024, Alex has walked more than 16,000km over 470 days, raising awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

His message - “wait one more minute, take one more step” - has brought hope, connection and conversation to communities across the country.

The journey has tested Alex in every way imaginable. He’s endured scorching temperatures that melted shoe soles, survived rat plagues, relentless rain, and faced uncertainty of finding food and water.

Through remote stretches where towns were up to 20 days apart, Alex often walked at night, facing new dangers like snakes and dingoes while battling desert cold.

Beyond physical challenges, the journey’s purpose has been fulfilled through meaningful connections made along Australia’s roads, where Alex’s story has sparked important conversations about mental health and resilience.

Locals are warmly invited to welcome Alex home and celebrate this powerful achievement.
