Five of the candidates for Gilmore fronted up to the Minnamurra Progress Association during the week to hear from the locals on the issues that matter most to them.
And get the chance to convince them that they have the solutions to their problems.
Minnamurra Progress Association secretary Cliff Mason said around 50 residents attended the meeting which was attended by Labor incumbent Fiona Phillips and fellow candidates Andrew Constance (Liberals), independent Kate Dezarnaulds, Melissa Wise (Trumpet of Patriots) and Graham Brown (Family First).
“They all spoke pretty well and there were a lot of questions,” he said.
“We raised a number of issues with them. One of the mains ones was the poor mobile reception we get in Minnamurra.
"It’s very patchy so we asked the candidates to follow that through to see what they can do about it.
Mason said one of the other main topics raised was the need for the different levels of government to work more closely together.
Phillips said she estimated that throughout the strenuous election campaign that she had attended around 30 meet the candidates forums.
“That is very unusual for an electorate. It is a bit of a challenge but that’s because of our long coastal strip but it's good that people come along,” she said.
