The Albanese Government has approved $79.6 million to launch the Jervis Bay Road to Hawken Road upgrade as part of a $500 million investment to improve safety, efficiency, and flood resilience on the Princes Highway.
The project will expand six kilometres of highway to two lanes in each direction, separated by a median barrier, and an intersection at Hawken Road, Tomerong, will also be upgraded. The funding supports detailed designs, community engagement, environmental approvals, and the final business case.
“This project will deliver long-lasting benefits to road users along the south coast of NSW,” said Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King.
The Australian Government is contributing $400 million, the NSW Government will provide the remaining $100 million to help with this upgrade - the first stage of a broader 20 kilometre improvement between Jervis Bay Road and Sussex Inlet Road.
Federal Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, highlighted the long-term benefits of the project. “Whether it’s the Milton Ulladulla Bypass or the Jervis Bay Road Intersection Upgrade, we are delivering the investments the South Coast needs and deserves.”
