When ex-Kiama Mayor Neil Reilly retired some time ago, he said in The Bugle that now he had time to devote more time to his passion which is creative writing.
You will find a fair amount of creative content in his latest offering in The Bugle.
In this article, he suggests that it is not the elections won or the titles held in public life, it is in fact the humanity shown that really counts.
The ex-Mayor did not show any humanity to his fellow councilor, Karen Renkema-Lang, when he instigated censure proceedings against her after she expressed her opinion in an ABC radio interview.
Nor did he show any humanity when he elected to contest, in the courts, her efforts to have the censure motion lifted.
Nor did he show humanity when he wasted a vast amount of ratepayers' dollars in pursuit of this frivolous and unjust quest.
It seems creative fantasy is alive and well now.
Back then, humanity shown was on life support.
Denis Balding,
Kiama
