Jamberoo’s Giving Tree marks 27 years of generosityElders Real Estate Giving Tree

For 27 years, Jamberoo’s Community Giving Tree has been bringing Christmas generosity to families in need, driven by the efforts of Elders Real Estate Jamberoo and the Salvation Army.

Owned by Vivienne Marris, Elders Real Estate has coordinated the Giving Tree since 1998, with Marris continuing the tradition after arriving in Jamberoo.

Each year, locals are invited to donate Christmas presents, which were collected by the Salvation Army on Tuesday to be distributed to families across the region.

Flyers and notices around the village help spread the word, though many residents already know the routine.

“I have quite a lot of people who come in around mid to end of November and say, ‘When’s the Giving Tree start?’,” Marris said.

Donations continue to grow with Marris noting this year’s collection was larger than 2024.

Contributions come from individuals, families and the local primary school, reflecting what she described as an exceptionally generous community.

The Giving Tree also runs alongside food drives organised by the local fire brigade, creating a coordinated effort to support those in need.

Over time, the initiative has expanded to include gifts for teenagers and vouchers, ensuring families of all ages are supported.

Marris said the village’s generosity “never disappoints and always surprises.”
