The Eaton Gorge Theatre Company (EGTC) are proud to present an outdoor performance of May Gibbs’ Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie at The Wollongong Botanic Garden on Monday 29 September 2025 at 10.30 am and 2 pm
In this outdoor adaptation of this quintessentially Australian classic, the iconic Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie come to life for contemporary audiences.
The Gumnut Babies are on a mission to see a human – but only from a distance! On their journey to the big city they meet friends and foes including Mrs Kookaburra, Mrs Fantail, Mr Lizard, Mr Frog, Mrs Snake, and, of course, Little Ragged Blossom.
Can Snugglepot lead the way? Can Cuddlepie hold his nerve? Can they avoid falling victim to the Big Bad Banksia Man?
The Illawarra’s own EGTC have been presenting outdoor theatre in botanic gardens and parks for children for over 20 years, writing and producing their own work that focuses on the environment and sustainability. The company has visited all states and territories in Australia bringing their brand of fun and larger than life characters to the stage.
“We are really looking forward to bringing Snugglepot and Cuddlepie back to Wollongong in 2025. We had an incredible response last time and we know audiences will enjoy this beautiful tale in the stunning surrounds of the Wollongong Botanic Garden.” CEO Juliet Scrine said. “We have pulled together a cast of actors from all ages who all bring different strengths to their roles. They all have memories of the stories read to them as young children and are looking forward to introducing our audiences to the wonder and magic of the Australian bush through May Gibbs’ eyes”
The part of Snugglepot will be played by Sam Chapman, Cuddlepie is being played by WAPA Graduate Hamish White, Little Ragged Blossom is Emily Cassar, and the other roles will be shared by Michael Connor and Juliet Scrine. Set design by Thomas Creative and sound design by McKenzee Scrine.
